Overview
Afloat rules, Tigers will learn how to stay safe in the water and get comfortable with being in the water. Tigers can earn this Adventure by completing the requirements OR by taking swim lessons. Prior to any activity, use Scouting America SAFE Checklist to ensure the safety of all those involved.
Requirements
Requirement 1
Learn about the swimming safety rules that you need to follow.
Activities:
- Tiger Safe Swim Defense (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 2, prep 2) Cub Scouts will identify the Safe Swim Defense.
Requirement 2
Demonstrate how to enter the swimming area properly.
Activities:
- Swim Area Safety (Travel, energy 2, supplies 2, prep 5) Before going swimming Cub Scouts learn how to properly enter the swimming area.
Requirement 3
With your Tiger adult partner as your buddy, be active in water depths matching your ability for 20 minutes.
Activities:
- Go Swimming (Travel, energy 5, supplies 5, prep 5) Take your den and go swimming.
Requirement 4
Place your face in the water and blow bubbles.
Activities:
- Bubbles in the Water (Travel, energy 3, supplies 2, prep 5) While in the pool Cub Scouts will blow bubbles in the water.
Requirement 6
Demonstrate how to exit the swimming area properly.
Activities:
- Swim Time Is Over (Outdoor, energy 5, supplies 5, prep 5) Demonstrate the importance of exiting the pool safely and removing buddy tag from the buddy board.
