Overview
With their family or den, Lions learn bike safety and go on a bike ride . Bikes, training wheels, tricycles, and adaptive bikes are welcome. Prior to any activity, use Scouting America SAFE Checklist to ensure the safety of all those involved. All participants in official Scouting America activities should become familiar with the Guide to Safe Scouting and applicable program literature or manuals.
Requirements
Requirement 1
With your den or Lion adult partner, learn about the safety gear you should use while riding a bicycle.
Activities:
- Checking My Gear Before I Ride (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 3, prep 3) Cub Scouts check their own safety gear.
- Follow the Dots To Safety Gear (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 2, prep 1) Reinforce introduction to bike safety gear with a dot-to-dot activity.
Requirement 2
With your den or Lion adult partner, learn the safety rules to follow when riding a bicycle.
Activities:
- Cut and Paste Bike Rules (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 2, prep 2) Review safety rules for bike riding.
Requirement 3
With your Lion adult partner or family, ride a bicycle wearing appropriate safety gear and follow safety rules.
Activities:
- Let’s Roll Lions (Outdoor, energy 4, supplies 3, prep 5) Take a bike ride with your den.
