Overview
Here is the opportunity for Lions and their adult partners to go on an overnight campout. Prior to any activity, use Scouting America SAFE Checklist to ensure the safety of all those involved. All participants in official Scouting America activities should become familiar with the Guide to Safe Scouting and applicable program literature or manuals.
Requirements
Requirement 1
Learn about the buddy system and how it works in the outdoors.
Activities:
- Buddy or No Buddy? (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 2, prep 2) Using the Lion handbook, Cub Scouts learn the buddy system.
- Buddy Tic Tac Toe (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 2, prep 2) Ask the Cub Scouts to “buddy up,” with a fellow scout of their choosing . Play tic-tac-toe.
Requirement 2
Before going on the overnight campout, discuss what type of weather is expected and what type of clothes you should wear.
Activities:
- Adult Partner Dress Up (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 1, prep 5) Adult partners wear different clothes for different seasons and Cub Scouts identify the season.
- What Should Kat Wear? (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 2, prep 1) Identify proper clothing for the weather with a cut out activity.
- What to Wear Relay (Indoor, energy 5, supplies 4, prep 2) Cub Scouts pick out clothes that are appropriate for different types of weather.
Requirement 3
Pack up your Cub Scout Six Essentials for the campout.
Activities:
- Packing for the Campout (Indoor, energy 2, supplies 4, prep 2) This is an At-Home activity. Adult partners will help their Cub Scouts pack their Cub Scout Six Essentials.
Requirement 4
Attend a council or district Cub Scout overnight camp or attend an overnight campout with your pack.
Activities:
- Lion Council Camping (Travel, energy 5, supplies 5, prep 5) Attend a district or council Cub Scout overnight campout.
- Lion Pack Camping (Travel, energy 5, supplies 5, prep 5) Go camping with your pack.
